Study Room Policy

 


Central Library

Available Spaces:

  • 2 Study Rooms in the Homework Center for groups of 2-4 people 

    (Priority for study room reservations is given to students under age 18 after 2 PM on Monday through Friday and all day Saturdays)

Amenities

  • Access to power outlets
  • Monitors with connections for laptops (cables available upon request)

 


Whittwood Branch Library

Available Space:

  • 1 Study Room in the Adult area for groups of 2-4 people, designated for adults.

Amenities:

  • Access to power outlets

All Study Rooms

 

Requirements for Use:

  • Library Card, Driver’s License, State ID, or School ID is required to use the space.

Using the Rooms:

  • Inquire about availability at the Reference Desk.
  • Rooms are first come, first serve.  Reservations are taken only for the next available room.
  • Rooms are open during the Library’s Hours of Operation
  • Special exceptions may be considered for groups at the discretion of the Librarian.

Room Rules:

  • Reservations are for up to 2 hours; 1 reservation per group per day
  • Any study room left unattended for more than 10 minutes will be available for use by others.
  • Items left unattended are considered “lost” and will place them in the Library's Lost and Found.
  • Please keep your voices low as walls are thin.
  • Do not bring food into the rooms.
  • Keep doors closed at all times.
  • When you leave the room, please take all your books, papers, pencils, etc. with you and push in your chairs.
  • Conducting business meetings such as paid tutoring, tax preparation, counseling, etc. is not allowed in the Study Rooms.

Study Rooms close 15 minutes before the Library closing.

 

Study Rooms are not available to be used for any of the following:

  • For purposes prohibited by city ordinance, by state or federal law, or by Library Standards of Behavior.
  • For the commercial advertising or direct solicitation of clients or customers.
  • For fund-raising.
  • For events or activities which directly profit the business of a commercial organization or individual, such as professional tutoring.
  • Users agree to leave the room and furnishings in the condition in which they are found.
  • Users further agree to accept liability for any damage to the facility and its furniture
  • caused by the occupancy of said premises by the individual or group.
  • No Items shall be taped or tacked to painted walls. No flammable materials will be permitted.
  • No smoking or eating is allowed. Drinks with tight-fitting lids are permitted.
  • Storage of personal property is not permitted. Do not leave personal property unattended.
  • Library staff cannot ‘watch over’ or be held responsible for user’s property.
  • In the event an individual or group fails to comply with any of the rules and regulations for use of study rooms, future use of the rooms may be denied.
